Staines-upon-Thames Day is a hugely popular free family fun day taking place around Staines town centre and the River Thames on Sunday 28 June 2015. There will be a wide variety of events and activities including live music, craft & community stalls, boat rides, pony rides, children’s entertainment, fairground rides, Duck Races, food & refreshments, kayaking and canoeing taster sessions and a Dragon Boat Challenge. The event is sponsored by local businesses and supported by Spelthorne Borough Council.
The new Dragon Boat Challenge is being hosted in partnership with the Hurricanes Dragonboat Club and the Staines Boat Club. Local charities, sporting groups, schools, clubs, pubs, businesses and individuals will be entering teams to raise funds for local causes, as a team building activity or simply for fun. The racing will take place along the Memorial Gardens stretch of the River Thames with each team participating in a minimum of 3 races for a place in the final and the chance to win a£250 cash prize for the charity of their choice and a trophy.
Kick It Radio will be broadcasting live from the High Street and will put on some karaoke for the children.
